Legal Aid of Marin’s mission is to provide access to the civil justice system to low-income, vulnerable and otherwise underserved residents of Marin County. We strive for practical solutions to client problems through quality legal service.

Resolving Cases

Marin Community Court


The Marin Community Court helps people with few resources to confront the justice system with confidence. It is an alternative sentencing collaborative program with Legal Aid of Marin, the Marin Superior Court and St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County.

WHEN:

MCC meets 2:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Note: There is no Community Court session in May, Next session: TUESDAY, JULY 11, 2017.

WHERE:

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County’s Free Dining Hall, 820 B Street, San Rafael.

WHO:

You may be eligible for the MCC if you have current or outstanding lifestyle infractions (camping/sleeping in parks, jaywalking, open container, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE:

Misdemeanors, DUI or criminal matters are currently NOT ELIGIBLE for the Marin Community Court.

Empowering Our Elders

Elder Law


We educate and advise older adults (60+years old) on:

  • Basic trust and estate issues
  • Advanced health care directives
  • Elder financial abuse, which includes prevention of investment and financial fraud
  • Older adults may also receive extra assistance to assert or defend their rights in Small Claims court through the Lockhart Small Claims Project
